I don’t know how anybody expects me to work with the smells of delicious food in the air. Maybe it was the combination of awesome light, super fun locations or one of my favorite couples ever or maybe I just have super-human willpower, but I powered through it. And I am so glad I did.
When Shelley told me she knew of this hip little neighborhood in Jackson I knew I was in for something great. You see, Shelley has awesome taste. I’ve worked alongside her at weddings as she transformed regular [albeit above average ; ) ] women into stunning brides and I KNOW she knows her stuff.
She didn’t disappoint. Being a Laurel native, I am not as familiar with the nooks and crannies of Jackson as I would like to be. Luckily, I have awesome couples who are! The Fondren neighborhood is everything she made it out to be. A street full of funky little shops, gorgeous (like crazy, whoa, gorgeous) light and behind it all… the location of my dreams.
You’ll have to scroll all the way down to see it, though.
We started off in a parking garage. Even their parking is funky! The light back there was beautiful.
Work it!
I. love. this. couple. Who else would play along with my crazy suggestions this well? And John is a DJ. How perfect is that wall for him?
Are you ready? I. Died. This WALL! Graffiti in Laurel is so uninspired. This blew me away.
And that amazingness in the background? That is the exterior of an ampitheater. I told you this place was all kinds of hip.

Oh, hello gorgeous light! Yes, this is all the same location. And there is still tons more to work with. You will definitely see more of Fondren from me.

You know you love this couple and this funky location. Their wedding promises to be even more incredible. I can’t wait!
In the meantime, leave them a comment below.
Lacie is Mississippi’s very own “accidental country girl” and a bride after my own heart. I think we spent as much time discussing details and ideas for her quirky country wedding as we did actually shooting their engagement photos.
Kendall and Lacie are beautiful together. They are a wonderful blend of opposing upbringings and interests, constantly laughing and playing and a complete joy to be around. I know their wedding is going to be a reflection of their unusual blend of styles and interests and a celebration of their unique connection.
Oh and by the way, Lacie, you are stunning.
I love fun couples. My clients know that I tend to be a little ridiculous during photo shoots. Sometimes it’s to get good interaction and expressions, but most of the time its because I’m a major dork. Luckily Sarah and Evan weren’t scared away by my ever-growing desire to be a stand up comedian. (Just Kidding… or am I?)
Aside from a good appreciation for mediocre jokes, Sarah and Evan are such a sweet couple. I am so glad we were finally able to do an engagement session for these two. (Evan works with the Alabama football program which creates some scheduling difficulties) We had a great time riding the Dentzel Carousel and roaming around downtown Meridian.
