Laughs and jokes and a whole lot of silliness thrown in. And then you catch it. That quite moment where they focus in on each other and you can see a visible separation from everything around them. There is a quite peace about them and then just like that, they return their attention to the energy and conversation around them. Again and again I see Will and Lindsey retreat into each other.
The first look. The best thing to happen to brides and grooms since arranged marriages went out of style.
Lindsey and Will hired the Fondren Trolley to take the bridal party from the church to the reception. Always an awesome ride!
This, ladies and gentlefolks, is The South. My new favorite venue. Awesome light, awesome atmosphere, and food and decor by Wendy Putt. You just can’t go wrong.
I don’t know how anybody expects me to work with the smells of delicious food in the air. Maybe it was the combination of awesome light, super fun locations or one of my favorite couples ever or maybe I just have super-human willpower, but I powered through it. And I am so glad I did.
When Shelley told me she knew of this hip little neighborhood in Jackson I knew I was in for something great. You see, Shelley has awesome taste. I’ve worked alongside her at weddings as she transformed regular [albeit above average ; ) ] women into stunning brides and I KNOW she knows her stuff.
She didn’t disappoint. Being a Laurel native, I am not as familiar with the nooks and crannies of Jackson as I would like to be. Luckily, I have awesome couples who are! The Fondren neighborhood is everything she made it out to be. A street full of funky little shops, gorgeous (like crazy, whoa, gorgeous) light and behind it all… the location of my dreams.
You’ll have to scroll all the way down to see it, though.
We started off in a parking garage. Even their parking is funky! The light back there was beautiful.
Work it!
I. love. this. couple. Who else would play along with my crazy suggestions this well? And John is a DJ. How perfect is that wall for him?
Are you ready? I. Died. This WALL! Graffiti in Laurel is so uninspired. This blew me away.
And that amazingness in the background? That is the exterior of an ampitheater. I told you this place was all kinds of hip.

Oh, hello gorgeous light! Yes, this is all the same location. And there is still tons more to work with. You will definitely see more of Fondren from me.

You know you love this couple and this funky location. Their wedding promises to be even more incredible. I can’t wait!
In the meantime, leave them a comment below.
The Battle-Friedman House in Tuscaloosa was the perfect backdrop for Sarah & Evan’s quietly elegant wedding ceremony. The beautiful gardens drew the guest’s attention away from the sweltering heat and onto the sweet couple who were focused on nothing but each other. The reception was fun and relaxed, a perfect representation of their similar personalities.
Revisit their beautiful Dentzel Carousel engagement session after viewing their wedding photos.
Sarah’s beautiful Alfred Angelo dress was a perfect fit for her.
I love funky wedding shoes. These Rocket Dogs were gorgeous!

Hailey Peterson of Cups N Cakes in Starkville created the delicious cake.
Sarah: My favorite moment was the first look. It was the best and most nervous I was all day. It was the only moment we had to ourselves all day, which I definitely needed! I would absolutely do it again.
Evan: The first time I saw Sarah in her dress. She was beautiful!
Sarah: My flower girl asked me if she could see our baby when we had it!
Evan: Taking my family pictures. That was an experience!
Sarah: I got to wear my great-grandmother’s pearl earrings.
Evan: We had pictures on the piano of our loved ones that have passed. It was a great way to remember them on a special day.
Sarah: Individual fans for the guests…it was hot!
Evan: Her rings and the marriage license!
Sarah: No matter what happens, at the end of the day you will be married to your best friend. Don’t sweat the small stuff.
Evan: Grooms stay out of the way—let the bride make the choices! Have fun!
